I’ve skimmed throw the supplement and it looks fine but I don’t like the very video gamey quest board. I think it feels like you’re in a game. While I can keep the one shot type system in I want to do it in a more natural way.
Also I think it would just be more fun for me to run more specific villains outside of the half orcs and orc tribe which sound a bit generic.
If there is any other tips you’d like to mention for this campaign leave them below!

2021.10.24 00:27 sublime_hedonist Cougars AND Cubs: Favorite Type of Bars?
Don't get me wrong--I (25M) love nothing more than a nightclub with good music that we can **actually** dance too.
But I absolutely love a good cocktail bar. I'm talking, a place where you can sit at the bar and the bartender has their own specialty cocktails. The bar itself's quiet, so you can actually hear your partner talking. I have a soft spot for Pisco Sours, so any place with some pisco and egg whites is an immediate yes for me.
I travel often between SF and NY so it's easy to find plenty of these places (but if you have any recs, PLEASE shoot them my way).
Would love to hear what type of bars are YOUR favorite to go to. Is it different whether you go with friends vs a cub/cougar? If you just aren't into bars (nothing wrong with that!), what are some favorite first date/hangout spots?

2021.10.24 00:27 CloningLikeBuu Will the MCU do the X-Men justice?
Throughout the MCU franchise there are weak to strong reimaginings of its storylines, characters, character lore, and the powers and abilities of the characters that they are based on. i’m not knocking reinterpretation, speaking as a fan of much of the FoX-Men franchise, I just wonder if we will ever see X-Men media besides the 90’s animated series that reflects the best comic runs rather than original content that only superficially resembles the material that is based on.

2021.10.24 00:27 over1ski Baby on the way, looking for mid-sized SUV with room for 2 dogs + car seat
My wife and I are expecting our first kid next year, and we need to upgrade from our 2013 Hyundai Elantra to a mid-sized SUV with room for a car seat and our two large (60 + 85 pound) dogs.
So far we're drawn to options like the Subaru Forester, Hyundai Santa Fe or Volvo XC90, all of which seem to have room for everything we need (but are still reasonably sized, get decent gas mileage, etc.). But we're open to anything!
-- Budget: $25,000 or so for used (<50k miles), or $35,000 or so for new
-- Priorities: safety, low maintenance needs (this is a big one, our Elantra has needed basically nothing in 5+ years), good gas mileage, CarPlay integration would be nice, suitable for road trips (we drive across the country once a year), backup camera, not huge like a Tahoe or Expedition
-- Not important: engine specs, AWD (we live in California and don't do much off-roading), towing capacity

2021.10.24 00:27 Palodromy The Theory of Non-Hexapod Elder Dragons, and why I believe they aren't entirely elder dragons. Chances are, this thing I'm posting won't survive long with the possible madness I'm gonna be unloading.
This has been a question I have asked myself not long after I played my first Monster Hunter game, and for awhile I have come finally to decide that I would like to share this hypothesis with others, even if it is met with criticism. I will try to explain my theory every step of the way, but I'm betting there are gonna be holes in here that are gonna be pointed out quickly, cause nothing is perfect in the first draft.
Now onto the actual question: Why are there elder dragons that are hexapods, quadrupedal and limbless? For the sake of simplicity, and common sense, the term hexapod refers to a creature with 6 limbs as opposed to just an insect.
Ever since I first heard about Monster Hunter, one of the main things that drew me in was the strange classification of its monsters, or more importantly, its dragons. In the games, a monster can be classed either under the family or body-plan, which would explain why Pseudo-Wyverns are technically Flying Wyverns and why Gobul is in the same classification as Lagiacrus, but one classification has always seemed to not abide by either of these classification systems: Elder Dragons. From the very beginning, Capcom has made it clear that elder dragons are beyond the natural order of things, and as far as I can tell, they've succeeded well in that regard, cause whenever they do appear it does feel like you are witnessing something powerful. But one thing that has always made me question the elder dragons, was what it truly meant by being an elder dragon? Capcom has made it clear that from the very start that an elder dragon can look like anything, be it a giant squid, a proper dragon, or even a unicorn. But this begs the question, why are there elder dragons like this? You can just say they're completely out of the natural order so obviously they're gonna look different, or that Capcom was just lazy with classifying them properly, but honestly, I think there is an actual, and likely plausible reason behind why there are so many body plans amongst the elder dragons.
Which brings me to the answer I have thought up with: Non-Hexapod Elder Dragons are hybrids.
This answer is one born of a farfetched far-reach that is trying to make sense of something that shouldn't have as much thought put into it as it should, but one I consider fun to speculate on. Now, why exactly did I come to this conclusion? Two things that I will go into, Low Rank - Master Rank Kirin in MHW:I and Elder Dragon Blood.
Kirin is already a key example of how strange the classification of an elder dragon based on appearance alone can be, its a scaly unicorn that calls down thunder from the heavens. But what many probably haven't noticed, besides its strange appearance for a "dragon," are the rewards you get from it. In the low rank rewards for slaying a Kirin, one is gifted many items that can be used to create high thunder element weapons and thunder-resistant armor, but one thing that seems to not be present is the mighty Elder Dragon Blood. I have read and heard from different sources, sources that may not be entirely true but for the sake of this theory I will consider true, is that the dragon element is in a way within everything, from the flora/fauna to the very ground in the form of energy. And from these same exact sources, it is said the elder dragons are practically brimming with "dragon energy," though to varying amounts, and even if they don't use dragon element that same dragon energy exists inside them. And upon the breaking/death of that living thing or object, that energy within themselves is expelled and can bring forth a surge of life/destruction, as seen in the Rotten Vale and is suggested by the Commander when Zorah is driven out to sea. This can also explain what dragon pods are, (mineral?) pods filled with this dragon element. Back to ED blood, it says it has a mysterious ingredient that sets it apart from normal blood, so to assume that this high amount of dragon energy is the secret ingredient to their blood is an easy guess.
This ED blood is present within all elder dragons, which I would say is the only common trait amongst all Elder Dragons... If not for the fact that Low Rank Kirin is absent in this regard. As far as I am aware, LR Kirin is the only "elder dragon" that does not have elder dragon blood as a reward. Could this imply that its blood isn't elder dragon at all? No, its still an elder dragon and why it doesn't have ED blood as a reward makes me confused, but it begs the question, why? Why LR Kirin, of all EDs, doesn't have ED blood? Things change once we reach High Rank and we finally acquired that grade A ED blood from Kirin, but there is another abnormality in it... There are two versions of ED blood in MHW, regular ED blood for High Rank, but Pure Dragon Blood for Master Rank. This implies 2 things, one; Elder Dragons can have varying amounts of dragon energy inside them, and two; there are elder dragons that are "impure." Now, all EDs in high rank just have ED blood, and under the assumption that there can be dragons with impure blood, what makes regular ED blood impure? My personal theory is, as I have stated before, certain elder dragons are actually hybrids.
There are at least two different varieties to this, one for hexapod dragons and one for non-hexapod dragons. Hexapod dragons may be impure, on the simple basis that they have the genes of other hexapod dragons that are not of the same species. While on the other hand, non-hexapod dragons are straight up hybrids with non-ED species. The famous number of this theory seems to be two, cause this brings up two more questions, why do the same monsters that have normal ED blood also have pure blood in Master Rank, and how would such a thing happen?
We already know most elder dragons are creatures that can be male or female and reproduce via sex, creating an egg, although this does not apply to all elder dragons, key example the Magalas. Some EDs even have sexual dimorphism in their species, but this asks the question, why do HR EDs have impure blood? That can be answered simply with:... They get horny. It is an unspoken fact in nature that animals of different species would gladly mate with each other if only it meant it would end their heat, and most likely, despite how intelligent they are, elder dragons would probably be no different from a bull finding the stallion's mare beyond the fence quite attractive. With how much "impure" ED blood there is in High Rank, it can assumed that this is a very common practice that while not occurring often enough that it would be a problem, as if it is a problem at all, it still happens enough that the genes of one ED species ends up sticking around in the form of impurity in the next generations' blood, even though the two species wouldn't have been able to produce offspring with each other. This impurity however can be bred out however if a ED species only performs intercourse with others of the same species, or they just don't perform intercourse at all with other species of EDs to begin with. Some dragons probably have never had this impurity to begin with, like G-Rank/Master Rank exclusives. This doesn't only apply to hexapod dragons, since non-hexapods like MR Kirin obviously have Pure Dragon Blood as a reward.
But still, this doesn't answer the question of why there are non-hexapod EDs. I will now get to that. I'd like to say again that this is only a theory, so this statement is probably not true in the slightest. Long ago, there were only hexapod dragons, and it wouldn't be hard to believe since it's the most common of todays Elder Dragon body-types. But because of the unspoken fact of nature, many of these ancient elder dragons had to have gotten at some point extremely frustrated, whether because of a lack of possible mates or insane isolation, and like a bull elephant in musth, they had to take desperate measures. If one is unaware of what musth is, it is basically a state in which a young male elephant enters an enraged heat that constantly tells them to be as violent as possible until after a certain point. But on many occasions, a bull elephant in musth will have a hard time finding a suitable female to mate with since they're so aggressive and many elephants choose to avoid them for safety, so in their depravity, they resort to other animals to relieve themselves with, an unfortunate example being rhinos. This could happen with an elder dragon, as an ED in heat could be so far away from the closest possible member of their own species, or even other elder dragons, that they will resort to breeding with the local monsters in the area instead. And because of the unnatural nature of elder dragon biology overpowering a regular species' normal biology, unlike with other elder dragons with equal power in their unusual biology, this can result in a crossbreed between the non-ED and the ED, functionally creating a hybrid that could create its own populations of similar hybrids due to their insane biology.
With this mad logic in hand, one could see how the modern Kirin could be the result of a frustrated ED finding an unlucky equine from an old species many millions of possible years prior. The parents of these Ancient Kirin are most definitely extinct at this point, but the children had only continued to evolve to the point where some members of the species genes today are pure enough that they are true elder dragons, but at the same time, their are still Kirin that are very hybridized despite looking no different from a pure Kirin still aren't because of that 1% of their ancestry. Many other non-hexapod EDs have probably been the result of such an event, but it was just the Kirin that was used as an example since it seemed the most easy to explain, having to explain how an ED could've mated with a squid to make what would become Narkarkos would be too stupid to understand and wouldn't get the point across.
In conclusion to this theory, which is starting to sound more like a conspiracy the more I write, I leave you all who have reached to the end with one last thought... Under this logic, Wyverians.
TL:DR - Hexapod Elder Dragons had mated with non-ED creatures to creature non-hexapod dragons, and I explain it via purity of dragon blood, the rewards of MHW:I Kirin in different ranks, and the fact that animals don't care what they fornicate with.

2021.10.24 00:27 mangosilence Losing weight faster than I "should" be: why?
Basically, I [F21] have been doing CICO for quite a few months now. It's been going well. :)
One thing that I've noticed, though, is that my rate of weight loss is almost double what it "should" be according to both MyFitnessPal and similar online calculators. I am completely sedentary and honestly average at about a 400-50 calorie deficit a day pretty consistently (~1350-1700 with an approx maintenance of 1750). I eat a lot of crap. So I should be losing maybe 0.5lb/0.25kg a week, if that? But instead my rate of weight loss has been closer to 2lb/1kg a week.
Is this something I should be worried about? I know this can happen for very overweight people or if you start a new diet/exercise routine but I'm not in one of those camps. Obviously it's a "good" thing to lose weight fast but I am worried that it's indicative of some kind of health issue or something. But that could be me being a hypochondriac, lol. Any thoughts?
